She is one of the most prominent and multifaceted figures in the art of the dance in Cuba and her fundamental work is connected with creative movement and the teaching of this art form. Outstanding Maître de Ballet, one of the most notable figures in Dance Pedagogy in the contemporary world, internationally recognized and the creator of the current system of teaching Classical Dance in the Republic of Cuba. Professor at the National School of Ballet, at the Higher Institute of Art and Methologist at the National Centre of Art Schools. Disciple of Alicia and Fernando Alonso. Founding ballerina of the National Ballet of Cuba (1959), she became one of its principal young dancers together with Loipa Araujo, Mirta Plá, Josefina Méndez, Aurora Bosch and Margarita de Saá and she attained the category of solo artiste and interpreted the main roles of international ballet repertoire. Under the direction of Fernando Alonso, she founded the School of Ballet of the National Art School (1962). Her artistic trajectory includes aspects such as repertoririst and choreographer. Intense international work as pedagogue and active on the conference circuit, she teaches Master Classes and courses for professors, Works on the juries of important competitions, and very especially on the preparation of young talent for their participation in international competitions. She has performed in Angola, Argentina, Bulgaria, Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, Italy, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru, the former USSR and Venezuela. It studied in the Municipal Conservatory. Between 1938 and 1947, worked at the Choral of Havana. She has been a teacher in diverse musical centers, among them the Conservatory Amadeo Roldán. Has offered courses in the Summer´s School of the University of Havana. Their texts have appeared in diverse magazines. Author of Test on the Spanish Influence in the Cuban music, The Sucu-Sucu of Island of Pines, of The popular music and The music and the town. During years she worked in the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore of the Academy of Sciences, figuring in their Advisory Council, then it occupied the position of directress of the Music's Museum and at the moment she is vice-president of the Foundation Fernando Ortiz. It has been recognized with: Doctor's title Honoris Causes of the Superior Institute of Art of Cuba and the International Prize of Investigation Fernando Ortiz. ![]() Reynaldo González Zamora Age: 71 Sex: M Specialty: Literature Founder and editor-boss of the magazine Revolution and Culture, director of cultural pages, editor and collaborator of national and international means, among them the Latin Press Agency, it directed during 11 years Cinemateca de Cuba. His work conjugates several styles the novelist, essayist, poet, anthropologist and journalist of long exercise, with identical deepness, grace and a learning filtered by the sensibility and the master of the occupation. It has collaborated in Union, The Gazette of Cuba, Bohemia, Revolution, Juventud Rebelde and Culture '64. He studied at the National Conservatory of Paris and the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. He has received awards at international competitions in Lisbon and Paris. Performing an extensive repertoire that includes the work of a wide variety of composers and styles. He has a Doctorate in Art Sciences from the Higher Institute of Art. Head of the Piano Department at the Vila-Seca Professioal Music Conservatory and lecturer at the Higher Conservatory of Music at the Barcelona Liceo. He has given masters classes at the University of Miami and the New York Manhattan School of Music. He is also the Director of the Vila-Seca International Music Course, one of the oldest and most prestigious in Catalonia. He is president of the Ibero-American-Catalonian Cultural Association. ![]() Miguel Barnet Lanza Age: 72 Sex: M Specialty: Art in general Writer, etnologist and poet. He specialized in the etnological investigation and in aspects of the transculturation of the religions of African origin, in Cuba and in the Caribbean. Founded the Fernando Ortiz´s Foundation, of which is a President. He is the Cuban writer more published inside and outside of Cuba. Miguel Barnet has written scripts of several film, documentaries and of the well-known “Gallego” cuban film based on its homonymous novel, and “La bella de La Alhambra”.
